This position is located at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in the Montague Avenue Annex, North Charleston, SC. Incumbent will serve as File Clerk/Scanning Specialist in the Medical Records File Unit of Health Information Management Section, Health Administration Service Line. Typical duties include:
Receiving, indexing, scanning, and assignment of appropriate nomenclature. Performs filing of paper health and administrative documents in accordance with approved procedure. Protects the confidentiality of patient information, access to computer files and release of access codes, according to established guidelines and policies. Identifies and prepares records for retention and disposition. Requests from and transfers records to other Veterans Health Administration (VHA)medical facilities. Utilizes computerized record tracking, associated with the retention, maintenance, disposition, and control of administrative and medical records. Following approved procedure, routinely transfers or prepares for archiving records of patients not receiving medical care within a three-year period. Interface with personal computer applications as well as numerous VISTA and CPRS applications (computer technology). Promotes a positive image of this Medical Center with emphasis on customer service by treating patients, co-workers, and medical center personnel with courtesy and respect. Responds to customer needs in a positive and efficient manner. Employs a cooperative attitude in interaction with coworkers and supervisors. Regularly and cooperatively assists other co-workers when needs arise. Position is located at the Montague Annex in North Charleston, SC. Area of Consideration Order:

The work with computers is mainly sedentary in an office environment. Some work will be performed in a warehouse setting and requires packing boxes (whose weight will typically exceed 20 pounds) and otherwise preparing records for shipment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
