Senior Social Worker (Community Resource Referral Center)

Incumbent serves as Senior Social Worker in the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program (HCHV). He/she assumes professional, technical and administrative responsibilities for social work in the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Clinic, outreach services, assessments, referrals for VA/community services to eligible Veterans and the Homeless Hotline Call Center. The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. The incumbent ensures that the resources for homeless Veterans are accessible and coordinated within the catchment area for the medical center. The program is comprehensive and requires extensive coordination among a wide variety of staff, disciplines and treatment components to ensure its success in conjunctions with the Health Care for Homeless Program Supervisor/Program Manager. As the Senior Social Worker, the incumbent has clinical responsibilities and oversight for an average size professional and non-professional staff, including support staff and professional staff at the GS-11 grade level and below. The incumbent is responsible for the professional and administrative management in the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program at the Community Resource Referral Center (CRRC) a satellite outpatient clinic of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. The incumbent, under the direction of the Program Manager and the CRRC Supervisor, directs clinical services at the CRRC with the program coordination responsibilities. The incumbent is licensed at the advanced practice level. The incumbent is responsible for various control points assigned to the program within the assigned areas. The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. In conjunction with the Health Care for Homeless Program Supervisor/Program Manager, plans, organizes and directs operational, patient and personnel activities for the CRRC program to include supervision of accurate and timely entry of program data to include HOMES, program NATS and implements actions to meet/exceed Program Performance Measures and increase overall program workload and achieve and maintain CARF accreditation for the HCHV Program. United States Citizenship. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f). Grade Determinations:
Senior Social Worker GS 12:
Experience/Education.The candidate must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. Licensure/Certification. Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and they must be able to provide supervision for licensure. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
